# OPPO · ColorOS 16: Developer options and USB debugging

Captured on **OPPO Find X8**, running **ColorOS 16.0.10 · Android 16**, on 2026-10-29. Menu names may differ on other models or software versions.

The box marks the target for each step. Click any image to open its watermarked full-size version. Developer options and USB debugging were already enabled on the captured device; confirm their state without turning them off first. **The screenshots use Chinese system menus; the instructions include the exact Chinese labels.**

**Full route:** Settings → About device → Version information → Build number; Settings → System & updates → Developer options → USB debugging

## 1. Open About device

Open Settings, scroll down and tap 关于本机 (About device).

## 2. Find Version information

Scroll down on About device and tap 版本信息 (Version information). The large ColorOS logo at the top is not the repeated-tap target for this step.

<figure class="tutorial-figure"><a href="/_static/3e7ab2051129f490f5ef3f16069fe4c5951a96d56e43ac8ad3017f8288afaa85/images/phone-settings/oppo/02.svg" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img src="/_static/3e7ab2051129f490f5ef3f16069fe4c5951a96d56e43ac8ad3017f8288afaa85/images/phone-settings/oppo/02.svg" alt="OPPO · ColorOS 16 — Find Version information" loading="lazy" /></a><figcaption>Find Version information</figcaption></figure>

## 3. Tap the highlighted build/version number repeatedly

Tap the highlighted version/build information about seven times, then enter your screen-lock credential if prompted, until the phone reports that Developer options are enabled. If it says they are already enabled, continue. Do not use Android version or Kernel version instead.

<figure class="tutorial-figure"><a href="/_static/3e7ab2051129f490f5ef3f16069fe4c5951a96d56e43ac8ad3017f8288afaa85/images/phone-settings/oppo/03.svg" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img src="/_static/3e7ab2051129f490f5ef3f16069fe4c5951a96d56e43ac8ad3017f8288afaa85/images/phone-settings/oppo/03.svg" alt="OPPO · ColorOS 16 — Tap the highlighted build/version number repeatedly" loading="lazy" /></a><figcaption>Tap the highlighted build/version number repeatedly</figcaption></figure>

## 4. Return to Settings and open System & updates

Return to Settings and tap 系统与更新 (System & updates).

<figure class="tutorial-figure"><a href="/_static/3e7ab2051129f490f5ef3f16069fe4c5951a96d56e43ac8ad3017f8288afaa85/images/phone-settings/oppo/04.svg" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img src="/_static/3e7ab2051129f490f5ef3f16069fe4c5951a96d56e43ac8ad3017f8288afaa85/images/phone-settings/oppo/04.svg" alt="OPPO · ColorOS 16 — Return to Settings and open System &amp; updates" loading="lazy" /></a><figcaption>Return to Settings and open System &amp; updates</figcaption></figure>

## 5. Open Developer options

In System & updates, scroll down and tap 开发者选项 (Developer options).

<figure class="tutorial-figure"><a href="/_static/3e7ab2051129f490f5ef3f16069fe4c5951a96d56e43ac8ad3017f8288afaa85/images/phone-settings/oppo/05.svg" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img src="/_static/3e7ab2051129f490f5ef3f16069fe4c5951a96d56e43ac8ad3017f8288afaa85/images/phone-settings/oppo/05.svg" alt="OPPO · ColorOS 16 — Open Developer options" loading="lazy" /></a><figcaption>Open Developer options</figcaption></figure>

## 6. Keep Developer options on

Confirm that the highlighted master switch is on. It is already on in this capture; leave it on. You do not need to turn it off and start over.

<figure class="tutorial-figure"><a href="/_static/3e7ab2051129f490f5ef3f16069fe4c5951a96d56e43ac8ad3017f8288afaa85/images/phone-settings/oppo/06.svg" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img src="/_static/3e7ab2051129f490f5ef3f16069fe4c5951a96d56e43ac8ad3017f8288afaa85/images/phone-settings/oppo/06.svg" alt="OPPO · ColorOS 16 — Keep Developer options on" loading="lazy" /></a><figcaption>Keep Developer options on</figcaption></figure>

## 7. Find USB debugging and confirm it is on

Scroll down to the Debugging section and find USB 调试 (USB debugging). If it is off on your phone, turn it on and read and confirm the system prompt. The final state should match this image: on. Do not select Revoke USB debugging authorizations below it.

<figure class="tutorial-figure"><a href="/_static/3e7ab2051129f490f5ef3f16069fe4c5951a96d56e43ac8ad3017f8288afaa85/images/phone-settings/oppo/07.svg" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img src="/_static/3e7ab2051129f490f5ef3f16069fe4c5951a96d56e43ac8ad3017f8288afaa85/images/phone-settings/oppo/07.svg" alt="OPPO · ColorOS 16 — Find USB debugging and confirm it is on" loading="lazy" /></a><figcaption>Find USB debugging and confirm it is on</figcaption></figure>

## 8. For phone-only wireless pairing: find Wireless debugging

The box identifies 无线调试 (Wireless debugging). **It is off in this capture; this is an entry-location image, not a completed setup.** USB connection to a computer does not need it. For Android 11+ phone-only pairing, connect to Wi-Fi, enable Wireless debugging, confirm the prompt, then tap the row to open its details. Continue with the pairing guide linked below.

<figure class="tutorial-figure"><a href="/_static/3e7ab2051129f490f5ef3f16069fe4c5951a96d56e43ac8ad3017f8288afaa85/images/phone-settings/oppo/08.svg" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img src="/_static/3e7ab2051129f490f5ef3f16069fe4c5951a96d56e43ac8ad3017f8288afaa85/images/phone-settings/oppo/08.svg" alt="OPPO · ColorOS 16 — For phone-only wireless pairing: find Wireless debugging" loading="lazy" /></a><figcaption>For phone-only wireless pairing: find Wireless debugging</figcaption></figure>

## Connect the computer and continue background setup

After enabling USB debugging, connect the unlocked phone to the computer with a data-capable USB cable. On first connection, confirm the computer in the phone’s Allow USB debugging? prompt and select Allow. Use Always allow only for your own trusted computer. If no prompt appears, check the cable, USB port and Windows driver first; do not revoke existing authorizations just to repeat the demonstration.

Continue with the [illustrated background setup guide](/en/guide/background-setup): choose an applicable system method, then configure VMOS+ battery use, autostart and background protection and test your virtual machine. USB debugging alone does not remove background restrictions.
